The Constitutional Court decided that the detention order of journalist Ali Bulaç for membership in a terrorist organisation by the Penal Judgeship of Peace had not been adequately established. In the light of this, the Constitutional Court held that the imprisonment of the journalist violated his right to liberty and security as well as his right to freedom of the press and expression, and awarded the applicant Bulaç non-pecuniary damage. 6 members did not participate in this decision taken by majority of votes.
