Due to an article published on 28.10.2013 at the website called gergerfirat, Hacı Boğatekin faced trial for insulting a public officer. The article was about requesting back the prefabricated toilets of a primary school which is operating in Gerger. The indictment was prepared on 13.1.2014 and Adıyaman 3rd Assize Court found Boğatekin guilty for insult on 18.9.2014 and decided on judicial fine. Boğatekin lodged an application with the Constitutional Court in the same year.
On 18 December 2017, the Constitutional Court found that the decision of the court violated the freedom of expression.
