The ECtHR ruled that the freedom of expression of the Yeni Evrensel newspaper, which was temporarily closed for publishing the identity of two police officers who had beaten Metin Göktepe, was violated. As Turkey has violated Article 10, the then owner of the newspaper, Fevzi Saygılı and responsible manager Ali Karataş each shall be paid a compensation of 5 thousand euros (23 thousand TL) (16 January 2018).
