Halkın Nabzı Newspaper Editor-in-Chief and the founding member of Peace Foundation in Turkey İshak Karakaş, and the nine people were detained on January 22 and arrested by 9th Criminal Judgeship of Peace for “sharing posts that legitimize terrorist organizations against which TAF has launched an operation in Afrin”. Karakaş was arrested on January 26, 2018 and released from prison pending trial with an international travel ban on May 8, 2018. 

The trial continued on January 17, 2019 and the 28th High Criminal Court in İstanbul sentenced Karakaş, who has criticised the TAF’s military operation in “Afrin”, to 1 year, 6 months and 22 days of imprisonment for “propagandising for a terrorist organisation” (26 March)
