The lawsuit was issued against the former editor-in-chief of the online edition for Cumhuriyet daily for the news entitled “The Nature of the Leaders [Liderlerin Doğası]” on the grounds of “insulting the President of the Republic” by the 15th Criminal Court of First Instance in Ankara. Güven faces up to 4 years and 8 months of imprisonment. The trial began on April 11, 2018.
