At a discussion he participated during a TV program, columnist Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı said: “You are on the Chief of the Defence’s side on his immoral behavior” which was broadcasted on May 6, 2010. Due to this remark a lawsuit was filed against Kütahyalı for allegedly insulting the Chief of Defence, İlker Başbuğ, who was on duty at that time.

İstanbul 13th Assize Penal Court made a verdict on March 23, 2020 and found Kütahyalı guilty for insulting a public officer. The court sentenced Kütahyalı with 12.500 TL judicial fine.
