On August 23, Özgür Gelecek newspaper reporter Taylan Özgür Öztaş, was detained after a police raid on his house at night, due to his participation in the trustee assignment protest held on August 20. He was released after his testimony.
İstanbul Anatolian 13.Assize Criminal Court accepted the indictment of public prosecution office on November 2019. Journalist is standing trial for allegedly violating Law on Meetings and Demonstrations alongside with Tunahan Turhan. The first hearing of the case will be held on March 18.
Öztaş and Turhan did not attend the fourth hearing of the case on September 29, 2021. The court ruled that the statements of the defendants whose statements had not yet been taken should be taken and the deficiencies should be rectified.
