Following the operations carried out on December 17, 2013, Yusuf Kaplan’s interview titled “The Cemaat (commonly used for Gülenists) introduces Protestantism to Islam” was published in a national newspaper on January 6, 2014. Fetullah Gülen, who claimed that insulting statements were used in the interview, filed a lawsuit on the 7th of April requesting non-pecuniary compensation. The case was dismissed by the Ankara 1st Civil Court of First Instance on 27.5.2104. The decision was upheld by the 4th Civil Chamber of the Court of Appeal on 8.6.2015 and Gülen made an individual application to The Constitutional Court on 31.07.2015.

In April 2018, TCC  rejected the application as it is manifestly ill-founded after concluding that the interview contributed to a current and important discussion with high public interest and remained within the scope of criticism.
