The reporter of Naber Medya, Anıl Deveci was taken into custody while covering the protests against the results of the referendum in İzmir on April 17, 2017, along with 19 other people including the video activist and documentarist Kazım Kızıl. Kızıl and 6 others were arrested, while Deveci was released with a judicial control measure.

At the final hearing of the trial on June 19, 2019, the İzmir 33rd Assize Court decided on the acquittal of Deveci. The court convicted Kazım Kızıl for insulting the president and sentenced him 1 year 3 months and 16 days imprisonment.
