A lawsuit was brought against Evrensel daily’s managing editor Çağrı Sarı and it’s former grant holder Arif Koşar under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code for “insulting the Turkish Nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey, and the institutions and the organs of the state” due to their report “Police targeted people in Nusaybin: 3 injured” published on March 13, 2016

They have been sentenced to 5 months of imprisonment by the 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in İstanbul on June 6, 2017. The execution of the sentence has been deferred.
