Journalist Cihan Acar and the lawyer Veysel Ok have been standing trial for the interview published on December 25, 2015 in Özgür Düşünce newspaper, which was closed by the Statutory Decree no. 668 as per the Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK)

The indictment has been issued by Prosecutor Murat İnam, [against whom there is an ongoing lawsuit at the Supreme Court of Appeals on charge of “being a member of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ)”]in August 2016 and the necessary permission has been granted by the Ministry of Justice on July 29, 2016. 

They have been each sentenced to 5 months of imprisonment for “degrading the judicial bodies of the state” and deferred the pronouncement of the judgement.
