BirGün newspaper reporter İsmail Arı announced on his social media account that he received many death threats and insulting messages, mostly from members of the Menzil Community. The journalist said, “They threaten me with death and swear at me. Persons, mostly members of the Menzil Community, are threatening me with death and swearing at me. All my complaints against them are rejected by prosecutors. The reason given is that “it is not clear who it is directed against!”. Accusing the judiciary of only “working for AKP supporters”, the journalist said, “Would it be like this if these threats and curses were directed at an AKP supporter or a partisan journalist? If anything happens to me, the prosecutors and the Ministry of Justice are responsible for ignoring my complaints!” Arı also shared images of threatening and abusive posts, saying, “Here is a small part of the threats and insults that prosecutors do not care about” (September 20).
