Having reported on the incident where Yusuf Ziya Gümüşel, the founder of Hiranur Foundation affiliated with the İsmailağa religious cult, “married off” his 6-year-old daughter with a religious marriage ceremony and the woman was subjected to sexual abuse, journalist Timur Soykan was targeted on social media.
“Misvak” magazine targeted him by publishing a comic on its social media account, writing, “Timur Soykan and his mentality, which attack Islam with the intention of repeating the Fadime Şahin indignation, should be arrested” (December 8).
