Journalist and writer Nurcan Baysal was sentenced to 10 months of imprisonment on February 20, 2018 for “Degrading Turkish Nation, State of Turkish Republic, the Organs and Institutions of the State” due to her column about the condition of the houses used by the police in the curfew in Cizre, published in T24.com.tr.  The prison sentence was suspended. Her lawyer will appeal the decision.
