Çilem Küçükkeleş, one of the Editors-in-Chief on Watch at Özgür Gündem, was read out the verdict in her face before she could sit in the dock. Küçükkeleş was also fined 6,000 TL over “publishing and spreading statements of terrorist organizations” and sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison over “propagandizing for a terrorist organisation”.

The decision by the Istanbul 22nd High Criminal Court on 14 February 2017 against the journalist Çilem Küçükkeleş was approved by the Court of Appeal on 22 May 2017.
