A lawsuit was filed against journalist Oktay Candemir in the Criminal Court of First Instance of Van on the ground of “insulting a public official” due to his article published on 22 December 2017 in which he called Murat Zorluoğlu, who was appointed as a trustee to Van Metropolitan Municipality, “badem bıyıklı”. He faces up to 2 years and 4 months of imprisonment (10 March 2018)
