The 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance of Bakırköy, with the decision dated 31 October 2017, sentenced Mustafa Armağan, Yeni Şafak newspaper columnist and Editor-in-Chief of Derin Tarih Magazine to 1 year and 3 months of imprisonment for “Insulting the Memory of Atatürk” due to his piece on Latife Hanım (Atatürk’s wife).
The court did not defer his prison sentence.
