Hürriyet daily reporter Arda Akın has been arrested on August 15, 2016, as part of the “July 15 coup attempt” investigation carried out by İstanbul Chief Public Prosecution, then he was released from prison on September 16, 2016. He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment on the grounds of “knowingly and willingly aiding an armed terrorist organization as a non-member” (28 December 2018)
