Gazete Karınca’s former grant holder Necla Demir has been standing trial for “successively propagandising for a terrorist organisation” for the news reports and interviews published on the military operation in Afrin, Syria at the İstanbul 33rd High Criminal Court. 

She did not attend her second hearing held on July 11,  but was represented by her lawyer. The court announced an interim ruling and adjourned the hearing to October 11, 2019 (11 July).

At the last hearing held on October 11, the court board has given its verdict by majority of votes and ruled that Necla Demir to be acquitted of “repeatedly propagandizing for a terrorist organization”.
