The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed an administrative fine to TELE 1 TV for the “Deprem Özel” [Speacial Broadcast on Earthquake] on January 24, and the “Main News Bulletin” broadcasted on 27 January on the grounds that they are improper to “the Procedures And Principles Of Media Services” due to the fact that in the broadcasts such as natural disaster news, expressions that create fear, panic and anxiety should not be used in order not to increase tension among the public and it thus violates the “impartiality” principle (5 February).
