Advertising ban

The Press Advertisement Institution has decided to cut the ads of Cumhuriyet Newspaper for 35 days – in other words halted the advertisement income of the newspaper- due to the news article on Fahrettin Altun’s rental land.

Prior to the decision, access to news was banned and an investigation was launched against journalists Hazal Ocak, Vedat Arık, Olcay Büyüktaş and İpek Özbey.

After the objections to the Press Advertisement Institution’s (BİK) advertisement bans on Cumhuriyet newspaper were rejected by the İstanbul 3rd Civil Court of First Instance, the 28-day advertisement ban has been put into force as of November 16, 2020 (November 16).
