On March 1, a group of 15-20 people attempted an attack to the houses of three journalists working at Sputnik News Agency. The crowd shouted slogans including “martyrs do not die, homeland is indivisible” . Sputnik and Russia Today (RT) Editor in Chief Margarita Simonyan drew attention on how this crowd had access to home addresses of journalists whose names have not been shared.
Journalists went to the police station to file a complaint, however, they were taken into custody in relation to the article entitled “The ‘Stolen Province’: Why Turkey Was Given A Corner Of Syria By France 80 Years Ago.” They were released after proffering their statement.
